The Best Banana Bread

I found the best banana bread recipe and I just had to share it!

It is originally from ‘De groene meisjes’ and written in Dutch, but because the world needs to know the recipe, I decided to translate it. So here it is! Please let me know if you make it, because it is honestly amazing!

Notes

  • For banana bread the general rule is, the browner the banana the better. Just keep in mind that the browner the banana, the more ‘wet’ your banana bread will be. So if you prefer a banana bread that is a bit dryer, use less milk. Or use bananas that are not as ripe (this does make it less sweet.)
  • The original recipe called for Plant-based milk, which you can substitute here as well. I just prefer real milk.
  • The recipe calls for oat flour and spelt flour. You can experiment with different types of flour though. I have used just flour, a combination of oats and regular flour etc. So use what you have and try which type you like best!

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 1 cup Oat flour blend oats to turn into flour
  • 1 Cup Spelt flour
  • 1 Tsp Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Tsp Salt
  • 1 Tsp Baking Powder

Wet ingredients

  • 1 Cup Dates
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tsp Vanilla extract
  • 3 Big ripe bananas or 4 smaller ones

Optional

  • 1/4 Cup Chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180C/350F.
  • Mix all the dry ingredients.
  • Add the dates, milk and vanilla extract to a blender and blend until smooth.
  • Mash the bananas (or add them to the blender like I usually do)
  • Mix the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients.
  • Bake in the oven for about 60 minutes.
  • Allow it to cool before serving.
