One of the best things you can do as a stay at home mom, is start planning your meals. It will save you time, money and countless of stressful minutes a day. It is extremely easy to meal plan. But let’s start with why you would even consider it.
By creating a meal plan for the week, you will have a ton of benefits:
1. It save you time
Planning your meals will save you the time of having to think of what you are going to eat that day. And let’s be honest, having to figure out what to eat every single day can be very time-consuming (and just annoying..)
But not only that. It also means you don’t have to go to the store every day. Because if you don’t yet know what you are going to eat during the week, chances are you don’t have every ingredient you need for that dish either.
So planning out your meals, means you can go grocery shopping just once a week instead of every single day. This will obviously save you a lot of time. I am talking about hours!
2. It saves you money
It will also save you a lot of money. When you go to the store daily, it means you will be more likely to buy things you don’t need. You walk through the chocolate isle to go to the exit, so you will be tempted every single day to buy it.
It will also save you a lot because you will order less food. The few days I don’t have a meal planned, I am so tempted to just get takeout. And I don’t have to tell you it is a lot more expensive to order takeout than to make meals from home.
3. It saves you stress
Creating a meal plan also saves you a lot of stress. Ever had those days where you realize it’s already 4pm and you haven’t even thought about what’s for dinner? You start to think of easy meals, realize you don’t have a certain ingredient, rush to the store and hurry up finishing the meal. (and those are probably the days we are more likely to order takeout..) I have had plenty of those days before I decided it was time to start planning my meals.
