The last couple of months, the Lord really put Titus 2 on my heart and more importantly, the Titus 2 woman. What does it mean to live like the woman mentioned in Titus 2 and why is it important?
I learned so much about the passage in Titus 2:3-5 that I decided to create an e-book to study God’s word together. If you want to dive deeper with me, you can find the e-book here. But today I wanted to share some thoughts about this passage with you. So let’s look at the passage and find out what it means to be a Titus 2 woman.
Titus 2:3-5
3 Older women similarly are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips nor addicted to much wine, teaching what is right and good, 4 so that they may encourage the young women to tenderly love their husbands and their children, 5 to be sensible, pure, makers of a home [where God is honored], good-natured, being subject to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be dishonored.

Some thoughts on this passage
- The first thing I notice in this passage is the older women. This means that having older women in your life or more experienced women, is extremely important. Do you have someone you can look up to as a mentor? Someone who can help you become a better woman of God? Not just someone who can teach you to cook or clean, but someone who always points you back to God and His Word?!
- The importance of our behavior. There are many parts of this passage that directly relate to our behavior. Do you focus on what is good, lovely, not gossip, pure, sensible and right? Because those are all words that are mentioned in just these two verses. Be mindful of how you behave as a woman, wife, mother. One of the best things to help you with this is study Proverbs every single day. So much wisdom can be found in the Proverbs on how to behave. Just read the one that correlates with the day. So on Jan 8th, you read Proverbs 8.
- Loving our husband and children needs to be taught. You don’t automatically become a good wife and mother. You need to learn to be a good one. And the best teacher you will ever find is the Holy Spirit. So be in God’s Word every single day and learn what God says about being a good wife, and loving mother. Another way to learn this is by allowing mature women to teach you. But make sure they are mature in their faith and can actually teach you. So this usually means you don’t look at direct friends for direction, but to women older than you.
- As women, we are the ones that are responsible for creating a loving, caring and safe home environment. But what I love about this verse, is that it also mentions a ‘home where God is honored’. What a beautiful reminder! Our home needs to reflect our love of God. How? By how we care for the things (and home) He has given us, by how we talk to each other and about others (here is the gossip again) and by being a good example to others (and becoming the ‘older women’ to those around us)
